I see long leather jackets at resale shops all the time and I actually have one hanging in a closet that hasn’t seen daylight for years. This is such a neat way to repurpose them. Love Sewing has instructions to take an unused leather jacket and turn it into an awesome peplum skirt. I love the idea. You get a nice leather skirt for free if you have am old jacket hanging around or for fairly inexpensive if you get one from a thrift store, either way would be much cheaper than buying a leather skirt.
