If you would like something totally different for your headboard, check out this tutorial and make your own canopy headboard. I really like the look of this. It looks elegant and yet it would not be a super expensive project. You would need material and two curtain rods and the brackets and hardware to install the rods.

One thing that I really like about it is that since it is an easy project, you could make a canopy for each season and that would give your room a whole new look whenever you changed the canopy. You could make a warm colors canopy for fall and winter or even another one for winter. Then a bright colors for spring and a light and airy canopy for summer. If you bedding was in similar colors I think it would be gorgeous.

This idea is from Design Sponge. You could make this for children’s beds as well. It would look really cute done in princess material for a girl and toy soldiers for boys. Or any character or theme you child might be into. Then for older children you could make a canopy in a theme or even just colors that they might like. It really does give the room an expensive sort of royal look.
