This is a great recipe for weekend mornings. Make the weekend special by serving up some warm from the oven muffins of monkey bread. This is sure to be a winner with kids and adults. The warm smell of baking dough, cinnamon and sugar will put a smile on everyone’s face. Perfect for this time of year, with the cooling temperatures.
The nice thing about these muffins is that you make the dough at home so it has that homemade yeasty goodness, so many monkey bread recipes I see are made with canned biscuits and that just doesn’t sound very appealing. Monkey bread is usually eaten with only the fingers and have it in individual muffins allows you to lick your fingers to catch every drop of that sweet drippy cinnamon flavor. The recipe is from Tahny Cooks and it is delicious.
This recipe makes 24 muffins. If you have leftovers, make sure to heat them just a little when you have them next. We put them in the microwave for 7 seconds but you could probably heat the oven, turn it off and then set them in it for a few minutes to heat them. They are just so much better warm than cold. It is worth the effort to heat them.
