Traditional southern oven fried green tomatoes recipe is a tasty way to use either early season or end of the season green tomatoes. If you have never tried them, don’t wait because they are truly a delight.
Unripe green tomatoes for frying aren’t sold in the supermarkets so this is just another reason to plant a garden.
List of ingredients:
1/3 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 medium green tomatoes, cut into 1/2-inch slices
Vegetable cooking oil
1 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a shallow dish; Set aside.
Dip tomato slices in water; dredge in cornmeal mixture.
Place tomato slices on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
Coat each slice with cooking spray. bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
