Planning Home Renovations

There are many ways you can improve the look and feel of your home through renovations and redecorating. This short guide will look at various changes you can bring to different rooms in your home, to give them a fresh, revitalised appearance. When it comes to a bedroom, first, you should consider repainting it with subtle colours, preferably soothing shades such as lavender or gentle hues of blue or green to give it a restful and serene feeling. To increase room space, you could purchase a storage bench which can be placed at the end of the bed. Alternatively, you could have built-in shelves added to the headboard.

You could also have a fitted wardrobe installed. As opposed to a freestanding wardrobe, this type is built into the walls and will provide a more spacious, luxurious feel to the room. Fitted wardrobes can be costly, however. For the installation of a regular fitted wardrobe, whether with a sliding door or three ordinary doors, expect to pay around £600 to £800. To have a top of the range, Bespoke fitted wardrobe added to your bedroom could cost anywhere from £2000 to £3000 or more.

There are many steps you can take to remodel your kitchen. To begin with, you should examine what appliances and fittings need replacing, whether a fridge, microwave, cabinets, flooring or lighting. A complete remodel of your kitchen can give it a striking new appearance, but it will come with a hefty price tag of around £7000 to £9000. On the other hand, you may choose to have just a few appliances and fittings replaced, in which case the cost will be considerably less.

To redecorate your kitchen, you could add new furniture, move things around or/and fit a painting or a horizontal mirror to the wall. A new kitchen can mean better, more up to date appliances which can be very useful, especially if they are hi-tech smart appliances.

Another way to improve your home is by fitting a new bathroom. There are many designs approaches you could take. Would you like a rectangular alcove bath? How about a free-standing bath or a pedestal bath for a more luxurious aesthetic? You’ll also need to consider what style of shower, taps and toilet you’d like among other features.

According to HomeHow, the cost of installation can vary significantly from £1000 to £3000 for a budget bathroom to between £7000 and £15,000 if you would like a luxury bathroom. The only real downsides are the cost and time associated with the installation. However, as shown above, a budget bathroom is not extortionately expensive.

Other ways to improve your home include redesigning your living room, repainting the front door and giving your roof a makeover.
