If you have access to grape leaves, the time to harvest them for preserving is nearing the end. As the season progresses they will get tough. If you like stuffed grape leaves you can harvest the leaves now while they are tender and preserve them either in the fridge or canned for the pantry shelf.
That way when you want to make stuffed grape leaves you will have the leaves to stuff. The instructions for preserving them is from My Pantry Shelf and they even share a recipe for dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). A lot of places make dolmas. They are popular in the middle east and Greece also make them. They are usually stuff with rice and herbs and for meat lovers they will have lamb or ground beef with the rice. You can buy them is some places canned but they do not even begin to compare to freshly made stuffed grape leaves.
By preserving your grape leaves now while the grape leaves are tender and perfect for stuffing you will be able to make you stuffed grape leaves at different times of the year. Some serve them as an appetizer and others as part of the main course. I love them made with ground beef.
