My absolute favorite way to eat fresh picked tomatoes is to slice them and make a sandwich with just tomato and mayo on toast. The flavor of the tomato shines through. I miss that all winter when the only fresh tomatoes are the plastic ones from the grocery store. Another favorite way to use the summer bounty of tomatoes that I love is making Old Fashion Spicy Tomato Preserves.
For 7 more recipes to help you use up the tomatoes check out the recipes from Old Fashioned Families. They have some great recipes so not even one of your ripe tomatoes need go to waste. They also share a recipe for green fried tomatoes, I have to disagree with them on only using the green firm tomatoes.
While I love green fried tomatoes the ones that are a little bit orange have a totally different taste than the green but when fried they are also totally delicious. As long as they are still firm so they will slice you can fry them.
