Do you have chronic sinusitis or frequent sinus infections? If you do read on. Most folks end up going to the doctor when ever they have a sinus infection or sinusitis. Usually sinusitis which is an inflammation of the sinus is caused by a virus.
Sinusitis can last two or three weeks which is a lot longer than a cold. Going to the doctor for sinusitis or sinus infection will usually result is a round of antibiotics which do nothing for a virus but do kill off the good gut health. I used to be very susceptible to bronchitis because I smoked and every time I had a sinus infection it would give me post nasal drip and set off another bout of bronchitis.
Now that I have quit smoking I have found that I can use essential oils to fight the sinusitis at home and not have to take antibiotics all the time. If you suffer from recurring sinusitis or sinus infections, you may want to try what I do and see if it will help you as well.
First I will say that I always know I am getting sinusitis when the mucus changes to that kind of green color. That is because the white blood cells have started fighting off the virus. So what I do is pull out my Crane cool mist humidifier, Which holds 2.3 gallons of water. If your humidifier holds a different amount, adjust your drops of essential oils accordingly.
( Here is a heads up from my own experience, if you use the humidifier make sure you buy the filter for it if you plan to use your tap water because otherwise you get a white powder all over everything from minerals that are in the water) fill it with water and add 20 drops of essential oil.
I usually use tea tree or eucalyptus. You can use one or all the oils listed but 20 drops total not 20 drops of each. If I do this at the first sign of the color change and run it all night with the bedroom door closed, the next day the color will already start going away and in just a few more days of using it every night the sinusitis is gone.
So next time you feel a sinus infection or sinusitis coming on try this and see if you can clear it up without that trip for antibiotics. Make sure to use 100% pure oils. If you don’t have or don’t want to use a cool mist humidifier you can also use an Essential Oil Diffuser, use it as directed.
I have also taken oil of oregano capsules and they help a lot. So next time your sinuses start acting up be ready to get relief.
Here are the oils to use and what the benefits of each are.
