This Self Watering Gardening 5 Gallon Plastic Water Cooler Bottle DIY Project is an amazingly frugal way to go on vacation and come home to beautiful florishing plants. This self-watering planter has is a reservoir at the bottom that holds water. This reservoir allows the plants to soak up water from the bottom up, just like in nature.
Be sure to add a piece of rope reaching up into the soil and down into the water reservoir. The water can climb up the rope as needed.
As with any self-watering planter, the idea is to let the plant water itself by either wicking water when needed or through a slow drip irrigation system of sorts. But you don’t have to spend a ton of money on specialty expensive pots. If you want a long-lasting planter that will continue to provide adequate water for your favorite plants, this one is perfect for you!
