Grab the recipe for this shortcut strawberry fridge cake and you will have a cake for the 4th of July in minutes. This is a shortcut cake because the actual cake part is made of Twinkies or Cloud cakes, whichever you prefer to use. Using the pre-made, pre-filled cakes makes this cake go together in minutes.
A time to chill in the fridge and the cake is ready to serve. I am not sure there is an easier cake than this one to make. If you don’t like the pre-made cakes feel free to bake a yellow cake but be ready to add extra whipped cream to make it super yummy. You can decorate the top with strawberry slices for the red stripes on the flag and blueberries for the blue stars area. This recipe is from Pink When.
If you prefer pie over cake you can use a pie crust and prepare as normal. Add strawberry glaze to about a half an inch deep then fill almost full with whole strawberries. Pour more glaze over the berries allowing it to sink down in and fill all gaps. Top off with more glaze then pipe whipped cream around the edge and put dollops in the center. Chill well then slice and serve. This fresh strawberry pie is a family favorite at my house and the shortcut cake is fast catching up.
