How to Make Small Talk with Strangers: A 21 Day Happiness Experiment

This interesting article about “How to Make Small Talk with Strangers: A 21 Day Happiness Experiment” journeys through the results of a gentleman trying to connect with people he causally encounters. I enjoyed reading how people responded differently when his son was with him, how electronic devices affected his attempts and how he felt after each interactions.

My grandmother was a talkative woman who would chat up (almost) any stranger.   She would  speak to children, dogs, stressed out mothers in the grocery store line, young men and elderly people.  People were drawn to her like a moth to a flame, they responded to her kind words of encouragement which often ended with a hug.  But that was another time period where people openly spoke among each other with less fear or maybe just less awareness.
