These would make nice handles for any bags one might make and a mixe of clored thread would as they say in the article make interesting patterns in the thread. I have never made the square braid. I do remember back in the 70s making macrame plant holders that hung from the ceiling which were kind of cool. We made one that had the macrame for the sides and it held 5 small glass shelves and was great for displaying small items.
