This recipe is for an old fashioned vanilla sugar cake that is baked in the iron skillet and left bare as well. This is a great snack or coffee time cake and we love it at my house It is a really nice, lite cake because you only use egg whites in it.
It is delicious and perfect for a little sweet when you want it without being the super sweet is would be frosted. The recipe is very good just the way Chocolate Chocolate And More shares it but I like to add a teaspoon of cardamom powder to it. I absolutely love cardamom and it goes in this cake perfectly. It is also fantastic added to sugar cookies. Try it next time you make them.
Take a little of the cookie dough and add a sprinkle or two of cardamom powder and them bake that small batch and try them. I bet you end up adding cardamom to the rest of your cookie dough. In this cake it is a great way to make this recipe and switch it up once in a while from just vanilla to vanilla cardamom.
