Great video instructions for making a super simple live bird trap. I know sometimes folks would like to get rid of pigeons or doves that may be bothersome but would prefer not to kill them. This trap allows you to catch them live without hurting them so you could take them somewhere else. No guarantees they won’t fly back though.
In case of a catastrophe and you needed food or if you would just like to add to your freezer. You could also try domesticating them for eggs. The dove and pigeons can be prepared in many different recipes and here are a bunch of them from Honest Food. I think I would have to be pretty hungry but at least if I ever needed to I would know how to catch some. I could hae used this live trap a few years back.
My sister had an African Grey parrot and he was forever escaping to the outdoors. He would sit in a tree and just squawk at us. We were so afraid he would be attacked or fly off and get lost. The only thing he would come down for was a can of coke. But he would only come when we went in the house. He would knock it over drink some and go right back to the tree.
Sometimes it took a couple of days to coax him back to his cage. We worried even more if he stayed out at night because he couldn’t see in the dark but owls can. This trap is simple to make and simple to use. The video is from FPS Outback.
