Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped stuffed pancake that is a popular outdoor street food vendor staple. You can make Taiyaki at home in your own kitchen using a few readily available ingredients. Taiyaki is made using regular pancake or waffle batter. The batter is poured into a fish-shaped mold for each side. The filling is then put on one side and the mold is closed. It is then cooked on both sides until golden brown.
I personally am going to skip the red bean paste and add diced cooked sweet fruit filling as a gentle way of introducing my family to this new breakfast delight.
