They Turned A Pool Into Self-sufficient System That Feeds The Family

When these folks bought their house it came with an in ground pool that needed work. Instead of fixing the pool for swimming they turned it into a self sufficient ecosystem that feeds the family with 8 eggs per day, unlimited talapia and plenty of fruits and veggies. With all the drought going on out west some of the folks there may decide to turn their pools into pool gardens, especially if they can’t get the water to keep them filled. This pool garden is pretty neat. They have chickens under the dome and the chicken walk across the pool with lets their waste drop into the pool and make fertilizer which feed the plants.

They manage to grow a lot of food and everything gets recycled so it isn’t a drain on potable water. They have solar panels to run the pumps and fans. With so many swimming pools in this country just think about how much food could be raised in them. I know a lot of places now have very strict water restrictions and if not yet possibly soon a swimming pool may not be feasible to keep up. Instead of filling it in why not turn it into a garden pool and grown your own foods.
