Sugar is everywhere in our foods and makes things sweeter. While it does plenty of that, it also can affect one’s health if consuming too much sugar in one day. Sugar comes in multiple forms that is needed for our bodies to work properly, but people’s eating habits can be so poor, we exceed past the recommended 36 grams a day of added sugar.

Natural sugar comes in fruits and vegetables, in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. This doesn’t go into the bloodstream and cause a huge boost of energy we think of. We need to cut the excess and here are some tips.

For starters, make a date for when the cutting begins. It also helps to have a friend who can keep it in check; get someone who is a health junkie. Look at what sugar is worth keeping around and worth dumping. Soda, coffee, certain sweets – choose which can be disposed off to stave off the extra sugar. Once decided upon, put in the psychology and commit to keeping it off. That’s easier said then done.

Stop Buying Processed Foods

Eat more often, if you are super hungry you will be more likely to eat junk food.

Eat more fresh foods

Read labels on processed foods so you how just how much sugar you are being fed if you choose to eat that item.

Eliminate sugary beverages – drink water or tea

Make your own salad dressing

If you have to, switch from milk chocolate to dark chocolate …. you will be satisfied quicker and it has health benefits.

Do not keep sugary treats in the house

Drink more water to curb hunger and stay hydrated.

Avoid store bought commercial flavored yogurt – most yogurt has the same amount of sugar as a can of soda pop… yikes.

Choose whole fresh fruit over commercial fruit juice or soda pop

Use cinnamon, nutmeg, and turmeric to give your food a new and different flavor that can replace the sweetness you are used to.

Get enough sleep so you have the energy you need instead of a sugary pick me up to get yourself through the day.

Most likely, people will succumb to temptation at times when they should not allow it to happen. Don’t have remorse about it. Just go back to the original plan. Don’t make it as a cheat day for everything to eat. Know ahead of time what will be consumed in the next few days, which is known as a diet. Also, choose different foods to eat as an alternative. In total, it will work out for the best.
