'TomTato' Tomato and Potato Plant

‘TomTato’ Tomato and Potato Plant

A plant that produces both tomatoes and potatoes  at the same time , called the TomTato, has been developed for the UK market. It is not a genetically modified plant but has been created through a grafting produce for urban gardeners who have very limited space.

TomTato grows cherry tomatoes on the vine, while growing whole white potatoes underground. Tomato and potatoes are members of the same plant family, which makes them ideal candidates for being grafted together. The technique of grafting has been used by fruit growers and horticulturists for centuries.

I will be interested to to hear what other readers have to say about it.
