Totally Off Grid In A Yurt

Totally Off Grid In A Yurt For 5 Years

Check out how this lady went totally off grid living in a yurt in Nova Scotia. Sue talks about what she misses most after leaving her job and going off grid. She also tells us what is really great about being off grid and away from it all. Her yurt is just one big room but it seems to have all that she needs. She uses a wood stove to heat and cook with. In the winter she makes stews and soups on her wood stove and it summer she eats more salads and raw foods instead of using the wood stove.

She hauls goods up a quarter mile long drive way in a fish crate while wearing snowshoes in the winter time. She tells about how quiet her home is without the hum of the fridge, the noises of the water pump and other on grid noises and distractions like clocks with blinking time that she doesn’t miss.

I am kind of jealous of her life style. She gets to enjoy nature and the quiet at her own pace for the most part. Wouldn’t it be great to not have to keep pace with everyone else. Read her story and see more pics on Mother Earth News.
