Come take a tour of this recess bunker under the patio. This is a really neat way to have somewhere to escape to while hiding it in plain sight. Built first and then the patio is put in over the top of the bunker.
Landscaping is done with low water need plants to camouflage the pipes and wires to the bunker. Chad Person shares a lot of pictures of the bunker both inside and out and explains how it was built. Getting all of the concrete into the back yard was a major job because the trucks couldn’t get access, there was only enough space for a wheelbarrow to fit through.
The last of it went in over the top of the house. He has it set up to collect rain water off the roof for use in the bunker. I have seen some of the old bomb shelters but this one is quite a bit different from any that I have ever seen and I really like the way it is there but only the family would ever know that it is. I am sure having that recess bunker under their patio is a great feeling, knowing they could escape into it for a while and let what ever catastrophe was happening cool down.
