Has the carpet on your stairway gotten a bit shabby or is the stairway just in need of some tlc? Check out this inexpensive way to transform them and give them a stunning look. Almost looks like cork but definitely like some kind of wood. Very beautiful and its all done with brown paper. Joy Folie shares the finished project of re-doing the stairs after removing old carpet.
By gluing and the paper down and then adding a few coats of polyurethane she made the stairs really shine. She says that the risers had a few dings (whose doesn’t? especially if you have kids) That she glues a gorgeous wallpaper boarder to rather than three coats of paint and then she added some white trim at the bottom of each riser and got a totally clean and new looking stair case.
So if you have been thinking about re-doing your stairs you may want to try this look before throwing new carpet on them. I love this look and would like it in the hallway and bathroom as well as the stairway. I think this brown paper look would be awesome on a wall in a den or family room or even as a finish on an old armoire or wardrobe. I can see it in lots of places but definitely on the stairway.
