This Vertical Hydroponic Gardening System DIY Project can be built with by a motivated homesteader that loves year round gardening. Hydroponics is a subset of hydroculture, which is a method of growing plants without soil by using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. Plants may be grown with only their roots exposed to the mineral solution, or the roots may be supported by an inert medium, such as perlite or gravel.
Hydroponics is the method of growing plants completely free of soil and uses only water as a source of nutrients for the plant to grow. The method has been used and there are a number of ways that this can be accomplished.
This article and DIY project is an example of how to combine hydroponics and the space-saving concept of vertical gardening.
