What Can I Store in a Deck Box During Winter?

Seasons are changing, and it’s about time to start thinking about storing away all of your outdoor items. If you do it early enough, you’ll even have time to clean and organize everything comfortably. If the weather is still relatively warm as you’re packing things away, you can wash everything and let it air dry, which you can’t do in the freezing fall or winter temperatures. So, the earlier you can start, the better. As far as what you can store in a deck box during the winter, here are a few ideas.

Cushions

If you have patio cushions or outdoor pillows, the deck box is the perfect place to keep them during the winter. Just make sure the cushions are all thoroughly clean and especially make sure they are dry. You don’t want them to be damaged or get moldy because they were stored wet or damp.

Gardening Tools

If you love to garden and you have an abundance of pots, spades, shovels, etc. the deck box is a great receptacle. Again, making sure all of your equipment is dirt free as possible will help preserve the life of your items. It will also ensure that you don’t get dirt on other items stored in the deck box. While it can be hard to get gardening tools cleaned, just do the best you can, and perhaps consider storing them in a bag or bin if they are dirty or you’ll be utilizing them during the colder months.

Pool Items

Pool items are perfect for storing in a deck box during the colder months. You can’t leave items in the pool or just blowing around the yard. They can get ruined super easily since pool toys are not known for being super sturdy. So, take everything out of the pool or yard, throw away any toys that are old or not working, then, just like we mentioned above, make sure everything is 100% dry. Then store your pool toys safely away in your deck box until next summer.

Outdoor Toys

Another great item to store in your deck box is outdoor toys. If you have kids that love playing in the yard, chances are that they have many, many toys. Digger trucks, wagons, balls, jump ropes, and the list goes on and on. Have your kids help you gather up all of the toys in your yard into a big pile. You can make this into a fun game and race to see who can gather the most items the fastest. Then sort through everything and donate or recycle toys you no longer want or need. Clean the toys off, let them air dry, and then you can store them away safe and sound in your deck box.

If you’re looking for a great new deck box that’s durable, weather-resistant, and features a soft-close mechanism, the deck boxes on Keter.com will be a great fit for your needs! Just make sure everything you store away is clean and dry, and you should be all set!
