If you are like me and you like this little packets of shakin and bakin mix for chicken and pork, did you know that you can make your own? Yep you can make both right in your own kitchen and a lot cheaper because they are not exactly cheap to buy.
I know I grew up eating chicken and pork chops made with those mixes and we still make them today except now we make our own mix. I have been making the one for pork chops for a while because it always seemed to not be in the store when I was out. They chicken one is always in stock but the pork is not, so I started making my own and since that worked out so well I wanted one for chicken too because it is way cheaper to make your own. The Coleman Homestead shares their recipe for the chicken mix. Here is my recipe for the mix for pork chops.
Shakin and Bakin Mix For Pork chops
2 cups of Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
If you like it a little spicy you can add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Mix together in a Ziploc bag and either shake the pork chops in a bag with some of the mix or spray your baking pan with cooking spray and lay the chops on it, sprinkle mix on one side. Flip the chops over and sprinkle the mix on the other side. Bake as usual.
