Strawberry season is either happening or getting ready to happen in most areas of the US right now. Do you have a strawberry farm in your area where you can go strawberry picking? Or maybe you have your own field of strawberries. We used to take our girls to a strawberry farm near us when they still lived at home. When they were small I used to be worried the owner would triple charge us on the way out because the girls probably ate almost half as much as they picked but they never did and at least when we got home the girls were strawberry sated so I got to put some in the freezer and make jam. Do you ever make strawberry freezer jam? I like the freezer jam so much more than the canned jam. To me strawberry freezer jam tastes more like fresh berries, I suppose it is because they are never hot. If you have a lot of berries and need some ideas for preserving them here is a great free pdf down load for preserving strawberries that covers everything from dehydrating to jam making. So many ways to preserve them you never have to lose another strawberry.
I am also sharing a few recipes for using the fresh berries.
