For anyone thinking about a shipping container for a home you should see this fantastic enclosed outdoor addition to a container home. It really adds some beautiful space to the home and with the big patio doors to it the spacious feeling carries over to the inside of the home.
This is a really nice home, built from a 40 foot shipping container with a 20 foot container across one end. It has a full kitchen, living room and one bedroom. The 20 foot end has an office in it with hidden beds. the beds can be pulled out and the room could sleep three. The video is from Living Big In A Tiny House and Brenda is the owner. She first bought land and a 20 foot container and lived in it rent free for a year and a half while she got her mortgage and built the new one and fitted it out. Now she is living in the big one and renting out the old one.
The rent she makes off of the older smaller home pays the mortgage on the newer bigger home. For anyone wanting to go off grid or into a tiny home this would be something to think about. If money is a little tight you could do it in steps like Brenda has done. Start with a small container and when you are ready go bigger and rent the smaller unit for extra income.
