This homemade flour tortillas recipe is another great way to stretch a family’s food budget while getting into back to the basic cooking.
This recipe produces warm and soft tortillas perfect for sandwich wraps, quesadillas, soft tacos, burritos, enchiladas and homemade cinnamon sugar chips. Once you have tasted a fresh flour tortilla, settling for a store bought one will be a challenge.
Makes about 35 tortillas about 6 inches in diameter
8 cups Flour (all purpose OR whole wheat)
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon Baking powder
2 tablespoons Salt (or less)
1 1/2 cups warm water (as hot as you can handle to mix with your hands)
