If you love caramelized oinions check out this method of making them in the crock pot. You can make up a huge batch and then freeze them so when you need or want some caramelized onions you only have to grab them out of the freezer. Caramelized onions are good for so many things. They are very tasty on a hot sandwich. I love them on a grilled cheese. They are great to add to gravies or other meat sauces. Throw some in soup or stew.

Or make some french onion soup, which is one of my favorite soups. I love this recipe, Henri’s French Onion Soup.  Syrup and Biscuits shares instructions for making caramelized onions in the crock pot. The recipe she provides  makes 1 1/2 pints. I would double or triple this because we love the onions in so many things. This is a really easy way to make them because you just load all the ingredients into the crock pot and let them cook for about 24 hours. Allow to cool and then put into freezer container or freezer bags and put them into the freezer. Next time you need some caramelized onions you don’t have to stand at the stove for what feels like forever to make them. Vidalia onions make the best sweet caramelized onions but I have used all kinds and they are all very good.
