Check out this super easy way to take a long pleated skirt and turn it into a beautiful dress. With only a few cuts and a little sewing it will be done. The waist band is the neckline and nothing needed to be done with it. The dress is light and airy so you will need a slip or tank dress under it but it looks so pretty and it is perfect for times when you want to dress up a little.
The tutorial is from Our Life Is Beautiful and it turned out great. She says to make this skirt into this dress only took 30 minutes so if you have or can find a lot of long skirts you could whip up a couple of dresses in different colors in one afternoon. She use the material that was cut off from the skirt to make the belt for the dress. This is an incredible frugal idea and a great repurpose of the skirt.
I am thinking that for little girls you could probably make them a dress like this even if you didn’t have a skirt to reuse. The lines of the dress are so simple I think you could just use some pleated material and make a dress like this. Or make them a long pleated skirt and then redo it into a dress if that is easier for you.
