If you do not use Dawn dish washing soap, there is another option “Castile Liquid Soap” but honestly (in my opinion) it does not have the stain busting power as Dawn dish soap. Castile liquid soap is made with more natural ingredients so the decision of base ingredients is left up to the homesteader whipping up a batch of homemade laundry soap.
Some homesteaders like to add essential oil drops for fragrance and the aromatherapy effects. The lingering scent on clothing may be uplifting with citrus scents, relaxing with Lavender, for a mellow earthy scent Sandalwood is a great choice.
