100 Frugal Meal Ideas to Add to Your Rotation and Save

Check out these 100 frugal meals to add to you rotation and save. At my house we like beef for dinner and since beef prices just seem to keep going up, we have to either not have beef very often or economize on groceries another way.

I have a list of frugal meals that I make to help keep our food costs reasonable. One that my family loves is beans and cornbread. Just pinto beans cooked in a pot with a ham hock if you have one. We eat the beans without so either way. Salt the beans when they are softened and just eat a bowl with some hot buttered cornbread. I also like to break a piece of cornbread into my bowl of beans.

This is a cheap meal but very filling. If you add a table spoon of what ever cooking oil you use to the pot when you start the beans cooking they won’t cause gas as bad as without. When you cook your pot of beans make double what you will eat for dinner. Next day drain the liquid off of the left over beans. Pour them into a hot skillet that has a couple of tablespoon of oil in it and stir often until they are boiling.

Take a potato masher and smash them. You just made refried beans, at my house we like to add some grated cheddar to them and keep stirring till it is melted in. Have a bowl of cheesy beans with some tortilla chips. Filling and delicious. They sell these at Taco Bell (called pintos and cheese) for like 1.50 and you get maybe a fourth of a cup.

So there you have my 2 cheapest meals. Having these every other week or so frees up enough money to let me buy a beef roast or 2 and make Italian beef sandwiches or just a delicious roast beef dinner.
