This is an awesome pictorial on an 8 x 20 pallet shed with firewood storage space on the back. By using free pallets and other materials obtained free or cheap from Craigslist this shed only ended up costing about 500 dollars to complete.
Dudecalion shares his pictorial and tells how he built this shed on Imgur. The shed has a tin roof and is built to have a low profile so he actually dug a hole before he began building. He got free concrete blocks from Craigslist and used them to create a frame around the hole, then mortared them and added rebar. He was initially planning to add a floor but he says they get almost no rain so he left it as bare dirt to add height inside.
He built the shed low so the neighbors would have to see it. I love the way he built secret doors on the back to make it look as if the fence is tied into the shed. This both closed off his back yard and allows access to the firewood storage area built onto the back of the shed. The top layer of pallets he cut in half in keeping with the low profile and he had enough pallets left to do a barn style roof with them.
For the outside he did end up buying some less expensive siding to cover the shed. He had glass from Craigslist that he used to make some windows. This is a great shed working with a lot of free and recycled materials and I think he did a totally awesome job on it. He got a great shed and look at how much stuff didn’t end up in a land fill. Kudos to him. There are lots of pictures of the whole build at the link below.
