German Chocolate No Bake Pie
Even in the summer time we like pie but nobody wants to tun that oven on for an hour to make one. That is when no bake pies come in handy and this one is perfect for chocolate lovers.
All self-respecting foodies always have one or several reasonably easy to prepare chocolate pie recipes as a part of their repertoire. Why? This is simply because everyone loves chocolate pie and of course, you could never go wrong with a serving of chocolate pie.
There are people who love chocolate pie more than others yet it is very rare to meet someone who turns down a chocolate pie slice. As far as pies are concerned, chocolate pies are simply irresistible. But, if there is one type of chocolate pie that no one can ever say no to, it would be the German chocolate pie.
According to Kitchen Encounters, the German chocolate pie is the spinoff of the well known and highly acclaimed German chocolate cake. But, just so you know, German chocolate pie and German chocolate cake are not really German per se. Baker’s German’s Chocolate is actually named after Samuel German, the employee of Baker’s who was behind the first ever invention of this extra sweet chocolate treat.
On the 3rd of June 1957, the Dallas Morning Star made a mistake of printing a recipe for the very first German’s Chocolate Cake and referred to it as German Chocolate Cake. This name remained stuck with the recipe for the next few years to this day.
