Old Fashioned Homemade Amish Cinnamon Rolls

Now that the cooler weather is here you can turn the oven on weekend mornings and make some old fashioned homemade Amish cinnamon rolls. These are just about the best cinnamon rolls I have ever eaten.

Old Fashioned Homemade Amish Cinnamon Rolls

I have made plenty of cinnamon rolls and I had always used regular all purpose flour. In this recipe form Our Simple Life they are made with bread flour and as strange as it sounds, mashed potatoes. When I first saw this recipe I thought eww no and moved on but  I kept thinking about it and since we like potato bread I thought maybe I will give it a try and I am very glad I did. Trust me you don’t taste potato but it makes the cinnamon rolls super moist and is so worth adding to the dough. The rolls in the recipe have a brown sugar glaze and it is really delicious.

I make it exactly as stated in the recipe most of the time but sometimes I will make a cream cheese frosting instead of the glaze. It is really good either way I just like to switch it up sometimes. These are made with the brown sugar in the filling instead of white and I would never make any cinnamon roll with white sugar. The brown sugar makes them taste so much richer and tastier.
