A recipe for canned spiced plum jam that you can water bath can and add to your pantry shelves so you will have it when the plums are gone. This jam is a different sort of plum jam as it has spices in it. Along with the plums you have hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. This would be so good on hot biscuits or English muffins. Since this is water bath canned all the folks that are leery about pressure canners can put this up too.
Little Mountain Haven shares the recipe and she says if you would prefer a plum sauce to use in quick breads or as toppings you can make this the same way and just omit the pectin. The plums and other ingredients cook for about 220 minutes and then the jam is canned for ten minutes so adding in time to cut up plums and clean up you should have your jam done and seals pinging in around an hour. You will end up with 8 jars of jam so not to shabby for an hour in the kitchen to be able to enjoy that delicious plum flavor for months when you can’t find plums in the store any more.
