All of the health experts seem to be in agreement that drinking water is far better for you than most anything on the market. With soda’s loaded with sugar or artificial sweeteners, sports drinks are too highly caffeinated and also filled with way too much sugar. The best thing for you to keep yourself hydrated is good old fashioned water. Unfortunately, plain water is just that, plain and blah tasting. This article was designed to introduce the reader to an alternative; fruit and vitamin-infused water.

Mix the ingredients into the filtered water and allow to ingredients to infuse for one to four hours. You can infuse fruit water over night but decrease fruit and herb amounts because of the flavor intensifies over long period of time.

1. Strawberry, Lemon and Basil:

1 lemon slice

cold filtered water

2-4 strawberries, hulled and sliced

small pinch of basil minced

2. Mandarin Orange and Blueberries:

1/2 mandarin orange (peeled and slices mashed)

1/2 cup Blueberries

cold filtered water

3.Strawberries, Cucumber and Blueberries: (Strong Blend)

2 Slices of cucumber (no peel)

1/2 cup Strawberries

1/2 cup Blueberries

cold filtered water

4. Watermelon and Mint

1 cup seedless watermelon cubes

1/2 of a fresh mint leaf crushed

cold filtered water

5. Cantaloupe and Pineapple

cold filtered water

1/2 cup of small cubed cantaloupe

1/2 cup of small cubed pineapple

6. Lavender Lemonade:

1 teaspoon honey

1/4 teaspoon lavender buds (less is more – if you put too much, it will taste like soap)

cold filtered water

1/4 cup lemon juice

7. Mojito Water: (Sweet Tart Pick Me Up)

cold filtered water

Lime juice (more the better)

1 Mint leaf crushed

2 teaspoons honey

8. Lemongrass Water:

cold filtered water

1 teaspoons honey

1 stalk Lemongrass (quartered)

1/2 teaspoon honey

1 peeled peach

one stem of cilantro

Considering the majority of the commercially made flavored waters on the market are filled with either added sugar, artificial sweeteners, and flavorings. All of which removes the healthy benefits that they were intended to provide. As an alternative, the homemade flavored and vitamin-infused water provides all of the goodness and leaves out the sugars and artificial stuff.
