With old pallet crates, they can be converted into something useful. For anyone who likes self satisfying manual labor, this would be a nice project. Start with lugging the wood pallet to an open field or work space. Get a crowbar to pry out the nails or better yet check out our article on “How to Make A Wood Pallet Dismantling Tool” You can always do it the hard way of using the back of a hammer. Once all free of nails, sand the wood with some rough sandpaper.
Come up with the right dimensions and cut the boards to length on a miter saw and use any scrap pieces as corner braces. Assemble the fronts and attach them to the sides with nails. Cut out the hardboard with a circular saw and nail it to the bottom of the crate. Once assembled, sand it once more to make sure the corners are smooth and the splinters are gone.
