The first step to turning an old table into a trough party table or bench is to use an old table you might have or but an old table, regardless of any damage it may have to it. The size of the table should be capable of having the center cut out preferably with a router which should be easy.
The next step would be to add a trough to the table by placing it into the cut out center in the table and using screws to hold it in place with added wood support as the screws might not be enough to safely secure it.
A lip must then be added to the inside of the trough to balance the lid, adding pull rings will make lifting the lid off of the trough easier.
Due to the quality of the table, veneer tape can be used to cover the edges and pressing the iron with piece of sheet will make the tape look like wood. After getting rid of all the excess tape, the table can finished off as a two tone colored table by using a dark mahogany color on the base and the trim and the Unicorn spit.
The mahogany color was made by mixing three parts blue thunder and 1 part dragon belly and 30 % water. Lastly two coats of varnish were added to the bench which added a final level of appeal to any future buyers.
