I stumbled across this video of a woman building a cabin from a kit pretty much all by herself and I am just in awe of this woman. From digging footers and laying a foundation right onto assembling the cabin and even getting the electricity to it she did all of it. It is a great video to watch as its not all done in fast forward like so many.
She goes about it with a leisurely manner and makes it seem so doable. For instance when she was building the foundation. She would only mix half a bag of cement at a time because she knew she would be tired after a few hours so she only mixed what she knew she could use in that time.
So maybe she did the assembly a little slower than a group or even a man but when you consider she was 42 years old and she did the whole project from start to finish… well like I said I am in awe of this lady. I can’t even imagine buying a piece of land and then just going there and building a cabin by myself.
Kudos to Becky, I think she has become my hero. This just goes to show that if you are determined enough you too can be a homesteader.
