If you are looking for a unique and fun backsplash check out this tutorial to make your own. This one is on a bar area but I think it could work pretty much where ever you need a backsplash. I would like this in my kitchen made in a little smaller scale but then in multi colors. It would really brighten up the area and I would love it to be in reds, oranges and yellows. I like the blue but I think I would use blue, turquoise and indigo for a bar or swimming area, that is one of the benefits of diy projects, you can do it the way you want it rather than having to buy what ever is available.
Kara Paslay Designs shares the tutorial on this and makes it look pretty easy. If you want a different look but still in a diy unique backsplash check out, How To Make a CD Mosaic Kitchen Backsplash. It turns out very pretty and reflective. You could even do the backsplash in the fish scale tile and do a border in the mosaic for a really different look.
