The nice thing about rocket stoves is that the way the work is super efficient and clean. They don’t take logs like a wood burning stove, rocket stoves burn little stuff like twigs and and scrap wood. They burn the fuel and then the burn the combustibles like creosote so that what comes out is almost always smokeless.

According to Permaculture Principals, ” The main difference between a normal fireplace or woodstove and a rocket stove is that rocket combustion is close to complete. When wood is burned it releases volatile compounds that we recognize as smoke or soot or creosote. In a rocket stove these compounds are sucked into the insulated and very hot ‘burn tunnel’ of the unit where they combust, releasing even more heat energy to drive the rocket process, unlike a normal fire where they are blown out the chimney. This distinctive sucking of the flames down into the burn tunnel, and the resultant ‘roar’ is what gives rocket stoves their name.”

So it makes sense that almost everyone would want one.  While you can buy them in all price ranges, this post will provide you with tutorials to build 10 different rocket stoves yourself.  Some folks even use them to heat their homes. When used this way they are made bigger and have something as a radiator. These are called mass heaters and you can find diy builds for them as well. you can read about them here.
