Remember Hamburger Helper?

Do you have a bunch of clean mason jars that are just waiting to be filled ? Would you like to be able to grab a jar from the shelf to make a quick meal ? This is your plan ahead answer.

Well, here is a homemade meal called Hamburger Stew – a stew that tastes like a hamburger flavored with herbs and spices. It is actually quite delicious, easy to make and can be the base of a super filling meal for the whole family.

Freeze-dried ingredients if possible but if not you can use your own dehyrator to remove moisture.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon of thyme

1 cup quick cook red beans

1/4 cup of dried onions

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of beef bouillon

1 cup dehydrated mixed vegetables

1 cup dehydrated ground beef (https://thehomesteadsurvival.com/hamburger-rocks/)

1 cup dehydrated diced potatoes

1/4 cup each of tomato powder

Next, comes the prepping and cooking. First, get a clean Mason jar and pour in everything: beans, veggies, meat, flour – all of it inside. Shake it up for a few seconds, so they can blend in very well and suck up all open space. BTW, this meal has a serving size of six; so, if you don’t want the extra food, just reduce each quantity of each ingredient a bit. Then, place the lid on tightly, preferably with a vacuum seal to solidify the air tightness of the can. Stick the jar ring on and stick in a dry place that is fairly cool.

When ready to use, do the following to cook. Carefully, take off the jar lid and pour the mix into a large pot. Then, pour in 6 cups of water and boil it with a medium-to-high heat. When it boils, lower the heat to let it seethe for 30 minutes. Simply, serve in a bowl and enjoy. Bon appetite!
